The Retreat

The key to a successful ‘Reset’ is to disconnect from the current cultural lifestyle and its demands, giving yourself the time to rest, think, search and heal. Perhaps you need to gain a new perspective for whatever is going on in your life or maybe you just want to have time with your family in a simpler environment without the disruption of technology overload. At the Fireside Christian Homestead, you will experience a unique sense of the presence of God the moment you arrive.

Location

The Homestead is located in the heart of the Wisconsin headwaters with over 2 miles of the Wisconsin River running through its center as well as a private lake. This location has some of the purist water on earth as well as the largest concentration of fresh water lakes on the planet with 167 lakes within a 20-mile circumference. The Fireside is situated on 550 acres of some of the most beautiful and tranquil landscape in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Cabins & Hermitages

Cabin options are available for a single person, 1 couple, or a family. Cabin reservations are limited to a maximum of 3 days. The cabins provide a simple yet warm and comfortable experience to reconnect with God and creation. Cabins have basic appliances needed for your stay. Some cabins are off grid and some feature wood stoves for heating. You will need to provide your own basic daily necessities.

Spiritual Connection

Psalms 119:114- You are my hiding place and shield; I hope in Your word. You will experience uninterrupted time with God to refresh your soul. Spend time in solitude to reconnect with God and contemplate life or if you prefer to connect with others, you can also opt to join a small group of people for devotions every morning and worship in the evenings. At the Fireside Christian Homestead, you will also find caring people that are available to listen and offer Christ-centered guidance and a godly perspective for difficult situations in your life.

Natural Connection

As a working Homestead, you are also welcome to join in the daily activities and schedule of the Homestead. Gardening, building projects, food preparation, animal care, and much more are part of our daily life. Experience the homestead life first-hand and work shoulder-to-shoulder with others who are living the blessing of a simple life connected with God and the land.

Walking Trails

The Fireside has over 10 miles of trails within its protected reserve area and an additional 5 miles of trails located on its rugged east side. Activities on the Homestead are restricted to ‘silent’ activities which include walking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. There are comfortable spots located throughout the property for prayer, meditation and contemplation. Only service vehicles are allowed on trails. To maintain a peaceful environment, no motorized recreational vehicles are allowed within the protected reserve area.

Fishing & Wildlife

Wildlife is abundant in this natural setting and the property is cared for as a sanctuary for wildlife. You will see many animals in their natural setting as you stroll through the trails and rest by the river. The 15-acre private lake is a no-motor lake. Canoes, a kayak and row boats are available to use. The lake has a variety of fish including largemouth and smallmouth bass, perch and panfish. Fishing is allowed but is limited to catch and release only. There are access points to the Wisconsin River if desired.

Technology

The Homestead is striving to significantly reduce exposure to man-made EMF and RF waves. We have seen outstanding health benefits from doing this. Wi-Fi, cell phones, as well as other electronic and digital devices are prohibited inside the protected reserve and agricultural area but are allowed in limited areas outside the protected reserve. There is no internet access on the property. Cell phones as well as all wi-fi devices must be placed in a secure cell phone locker located at the entrance of the protected reserve area prior to entry.

Security

Your privacy and security are very important to us. Cabins located within the protected reserve area are the most secure however there are also cabins outside the protected reserve. Most activities occur within the center of the Homestead near the lake, providing you with ample room and a quiet escape from the outside world. There are no security cameras installed anywhere on the property.
